Eniovden (the day of Enio), Midsummer’s Day, is a special day in the Bulgarian national calendar.

It is celebrated always on 24th of June and ot is associated with many folk beliefs

The holiday is associated with the Slavic folk traditions. It is celebrated in Russia, Ukraine, Balerus, Poland.

In Bulgaria it is the first and distant beginning of the winter – the length of the day begins to decrease.

Even these days the traditions help us to think ahead. It is but the winter will come.

It is believed that before “going to  the winter” the sun bathes in water sources and the water are healing.

It is believed that on  the various herbs and herbs have the greatest healing power, especially at sunrise.

Along with the New Year, St. George’s Day and other holidays, St. Enyovden also foretells health, marriage and fertility.
