Today is the Great Thursday, the fourth day of the Holy Week and the first before the Resurrection of Christ.

Great Thursday is connected with the Last Supper when the sacrament of the sacrament is established.

After dinner, Christ took bread, blessed him, broke it, gave his disciples and said,

“Take, eat, this is my body!”. Then he raised the cup and said, “Drink from it all, this is my blood of the New Testament, which for you and for many is shed for the remission of sins.”

On Easter Thursday, Bulgarians  paint  Easter eggs and we prepare sweet bread called kozunak.  Id somebody didn’t manage to paint the eggs, on Easter Saturday before the feast – it is OK also.

As I already said, red and white are special colors in the Bulgarian traditions. The first Easter egg should be painted in red. We keep this egg the whole year till the next Easter.
